  8. What web browser(s) does MySecurityVault PRO support?

  1. What are the minimum system requirements for MySecurityVault PRO?

The minimum installation requirements for MySecurityVault PRO are:

    • Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater
    • Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003
    • 64 MB RAM

  2. I just want to store my passwords. Will MySecurityVault PRO work for me?

Yes! While MySecurityVault PRO can be used for much more, it is set up by default to allow you to easily store and access your passwords.

  3. How can I access MySecurityVault PRO if I forget my password?

When you first install and run MySecurityVault PRO, you will be given the option to create a backup key. This step is highly recommended. We also suggest backing up your vault key to a diskette or CD which you can store in a safe place that is not on your computer. If you forget your password, you will be given a link to restore your backup key.

If you have forgotten your password and have not backed up your key, unfortunately there is no way to recover your data.

  4. What are categories?

Categories are used to organize your information. MySecurityVault PRO comes with two predefined categories: Passwords and Contacts. You can modify these categories or create new unique ones. Categories allow you to keep all relevant information grouped together for easy access. Using categories, MySecurityVault PRO becomes a convenient storage location for any information, even if you do not necessarily need it encrypted. You can use MySecurityVault PRO to keep track of almost anything, like movies you want to see or books you want to read, and set your own categories for those!

  5. How does MySecurityVault PRO ensure my information is safe?

MySecurityVault PRO employs several encryption techniques to protect your data. These include blowfish encryption, iterative MD5 hashing, and RSA encryption. Random seed values are created using random mouse movements and key presses. The combination of these methods creates the same level of protection used by government agencies and Fortune 500 companies.

  6. What makes a good password?

The most important characteristic of a password is its length. While this may seem to make it harder to remember your password, it can actually make it easier. If you can enter a long password, you do not need to include strange punctuation and numbers to make it strong. In other words, the password "My favorite color is blue" is much better than "1L0^eAmD" and is easier to remember.

  7. How can I move my information to a different vault?

Whether you need to transfer the information between work and home, or you are reinstalling MySecurityVault PRO, you may need to transfer your information between vaults. The easiest way to do this is to make a backup of the vault that contains the information you want to save using the backup/restore options in the tools menu. You may then use the file that is generated to restore your information to any other vault. You will simply need to enter the password that the backup was made under, and all the information, including the vault key and password, will be placed into the new vault.

  8. What web browser(s) does MySecurityVault PRO support?

MySecurityVault PRO currently supports on the Internet Explorer web browser. There are future plans to add support for other web browsers such as Firefox. If you would like to see other web browsers supported in the future, please contact support and provide your suggestions.
