- Can I stop the search, save files and start again?
It is possible to stop the search, save files, and start the search again from the place at which it was stopped.
To do this, you must take note of the cluster number that the search is at. In the main program window, click on OPTIONS > ADVANCED and then place a check in the box next to the option to "Prompt for start cluster / sector". When you restart the search you will be prompted to enter in the starting position of the search. Enter the cluster number you recorded and continue the search.
- How long does it take to recover files with Recover My Photos?
The length of time required to recover files with Recover My Photos will vary based on the size of the hard drive and how many files types you are searching for. However, a recovery should never take longer than 24 hours to complete.
- What filesystems does Recover My Photos support?
Recover My Photos supports the following filesystems:
- FAT 16
- FAT 32
- NTFS
- Can Recover My Photos recover files directly from a camera?
If your camera is shown in My Computer with a drive letter next to it, you will be able to use Recover My Photos to recover the files directly from your camera. As long as the hard drive or removable media is still functional and is detected by Windows, you will be able to recover your files. If the drive was physically damaged, you will need to look for a professional data recovery service.

There is no limit to the number or size of files that can be recovered with Recover My Photos.
- Can I wipe or permanently erase recovered files?
Use SecureClean to permanently erase deleted files with Department of Defense approved technology. Files erased with SecureClean cannot be recovered by any type of recovery software.
- Can I preview search results while the search is in progress?
Yes. Move the window containing the search bar out of the way of the main program. This gives you access to the results screen which will continue to update as the search takes place.
Click on a file in the window at the top of the results screen to display the preview of that file in the bottom window.
